2017 TV Shootout
4K, OLED, Ultra HD, and HDR sets included in the best of TV Shootout for 2017. This year’s Shootout is quite different from years past, but still pits the best of the best HDTV sets agains one another until one emerges victorious. This year is was done as part of CE Week on Wednesday, July 12 and Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York.
The Annual TV Shootout had judging and awards in three categories: Studio Lighting/ Home Theater, HDR, and Streaming Performance. The judges looked at contrast ratio, peak brightness, black level, color accuracy, color saturation, color volume, colorimetry, and resolution and motion artifacts to judge the categories. All TVs were concurrently fed through a professional HDMI distribution amp from 4K Blu-ray players, a 4K media server, 4K streaming, and USB as well as the latest 4K signal generator for test patterns.
