Hi guys,
I completely understand/agree with your perspective on the clunky/sludgy interface of the NVidia Shield, if you're referring to how it performed on Android 5.0. It was not always responsive, and too often buggy, particularly for it's price point.
I just wanted to point out, if you hadn't used one in a while, that Android 6 was a pretty big step up from 5 for Shield, and 7 has been a nice step up from 6. I think it's quite improved, in terms of speed, responsiveness, smoothness, lack of crashes, etc. It's by far and away my favorite media streamer at this point.
