NOOOOO! Don't get rid of OTA TV! I dropped cable because I was tired of paying $140 a month for almost nothing compelling anymore. The cable channels that were so good (and specialized) when HDTV first came online have devolved into generic crap. A few years ago I realized I was paying too much to see The Walking Dead, Angels baseball and a few other shows I could just as easily wait for the DVD's to come on Netflix; that 90% of what we DVR'd was network TV anyway. Green Dish antenna here in the CA house and a good old Yagi-style antenna in the attic of the MO house, coupled with TiVo, give us all the TV we need, thank you very much. Maybe, MAYBE if I was allowed to buy channels a la carte I could justify it in CA but Mediacomm doesn't extend outside of Springfield to allow me to get cable in MO. And forget DirecTV, not only will they never go along with a la carte channel purchasing, the serve is too inconsistent in inclement weather. I can't be alone in this, can I?

And I see that the "modern high gain UHF Yagi television antenna" shown in the Wikipedia Yagi article very closely resembles our "radio" internet antenna for the MO house. Can't wait for this technology to improve and become more widespread. $50 for the minimum service (somewhere between dialup and DSL) is annoying but necessary. No streaming there without going up a couple of pay levels. Maybe not even then.

I can see why ATSC 3.0 is not backward compatible with the existing ASTC format as they are using MPEG-H HEVC / H.265 codec. Wonder if there will be dual standards TV sets available soon.??
