What a great, great review! I’ve been looking for a new TV to best display my awesome DISH Network HD service, and as an employee of DISH I know a ton about receivers and troubleshooting and everything, but we don’t really specialize on TV’s since we aren’t a manufacturer, so I wasn’t sure where to turn. This review has been a great, great help!
Thank you for doing these reviews and how you do them. Because honestly, I don't care about the movie review itself, and I love how you guys push the video and audio first, then the movie itself last. For me, it helps me decide whether or not its worth buying on Blu-Ray or just getting a digital download or just the DVD.
I thought the video was outstanding, and despite the suspension of disbelief the movie was a lot of fun to watch. I was not impressed with the 5.1 DTS Master Audio...just seemed like it was not impactful and didn't really hit the subwoofer or surrounds enough. To me it seemed like typical 5.1 DD DVD audio. Normally when I am impressed with audio it's because it draws attention to its extreme realism, for example the gunfire in The Hurt Locker. I thought the soundtrack of this movie sounded compressed and overprocessed, with not a lot of discrete sounds coming through, just a wall of noise.
