Guys, "A Christmas Story" opened in theatres November 1983; unfortunately, not a big hit at that time.
Yes, it was shot in 4:3, but matted widescreen. Any 4:3 version you see is the unmatted 4:3 version. Tthere are several scenes with glimpses of equipment -- which the directory knew would be matted out.
I'm "A Christmas Story" nut, I couldn't resist a totally off topic post.
Saw this on Fatwallet a few days ago and looks to still be valid for the SqueezeBox Radio for 129 + 10 shipping. I don't have any of these yet but thought this would be a good intro.
You guys had a show on your systems and Braden had the squeezebox's i remember. Thought I would share in case people missed it.

Above you mention the Sony 46" LCD HDTV (Model KDL46V5100) at Sears for $1239. It's only $1039 RIGHT NOW with $250 off a blu-ray player. And get this: last Sunday I bought it there (actually ordered it, they were out) at a special customer appreciation Sunday night where all electronics were an additional 5% off, AND if you put it on a Sears card, you got 10% MORE off and 6 months same as cash! The blu-ray player I got was the BDP-S560 with wifi. All together, I was out the door for a grand total of $970, 9% sales tax INCLUDED, for a 120Hz 46" Sony TV and a full featured blu-ray with wifi.
I sure wanted to order through the HT Guys Amazon link, but Amazon couldn't touch it. Maybe they are still offering 10% more off for Sears card financing, but even if they aren't, the Sears deal on this Sony and a blu-ray is really fantastic. Mine is scheduled to show up Tuesday!
Speaking of Sears, they also have the Panasonic 54" S1 Plasma for $1099. Order online, pick up in store.
Braden,
I'm envious of your new Droid fone. I just hope it arrives down here some time soon. It seems to have gotten good reviews at the like of Cnet.
Regarding the UK TV license system. You only mentioned the B/W license. I believe they pay two to three times more for color licenses. I guess its a TV tax. Hope the "Govenator" doesn't hear about this scheme ..
One of you mentioned not liking Flashforward too much. You might try "v". The first episode was a little meh, but after that it's been good. I think this week's episode was only the fourth so you can catch up quickly.
UK Black and White TV licences
If you watch or record TV programmes as they’re broadcast, you must, by law, be covered by a TV Licence, no matter what device you are using, however, you don’t need to be covered by a licence if you’re only using ‘on-demand’ services to watch programmes after they have gone out on TV. (There are some exceptions e.g. over 75’s get free licences)
The TV license allows the use of all TVs within the house (not a license for each TV). The current annual cost is 142.50 GBP (236USD) for Colour and 48GBP (79USD) for B&W with the revenue generated funding the Public Service Broadcaster (BBC). There is a 50% reduction if you are Blind !
I thought that you would be interested in the following link which discusses who actually has a B&W licence.
