Insteon Controlled Whole House Audio

We have been toying with the idea of doing video and since the Bears are no longer fun to watch, I decided to shoot this video. If you guys like it I'll try to do more.

Hi Ara,

Great video.....hopefully there are more in the future. It's making me want to get my own whole home automation system.

Cheers,

Rene (Sydney, Australia)

I love it when you do videos. I would love to see more demos. Also, is there any way we can get that script you wrote? I am planning after Christmas to start with home automation. Thanks Ara, keep up the good work.

great video...hopefully more to come -- but, tell us more, in the video you said you have 5 speakers (zones?) --- how are they set up --- hard wired, wireless -- in ceiling, on wall, free standing? --- thanks for the podcast, and now the videos

James, I am planning on doing a walk through my home in the future. I will probably do it in parts over time. I'll make sure I cover how I did everything.

Travis, I'll send you the script. You'll have to modify it for your own use though.

The video is great. You guys should video of the entire podcast. Then maybe you could get it listed on the Tivo video on demand download like C-net and the like. Since I got the Tivo HD unit, replacing my very old series 1, I'am hooked on the video on demand internet shows. It is so cool to sit down and have all the Cnet shows queue up. Also enjoy one called The Wood Whisper. So it is time to add HT Guys to the list.

Interesting video. Would like to have learned more about exactly which Insteon software you wre using (is that House Linc?)

I am very interested in getting started with an insteon setup in my house. My only slight hurdle is buying the initial starter kit, but after that expanding should be a pretty gradual and straight forward process.

Ara,

I second James' comments about a video of the entire set-up in greater detail. Love the podcasts but this adds another dimension to your show that frankly you always leave me wanting after listening. It's awesome the abundance of information you talk about, but like most people today I'm spoiled by video and much of what you guys cover would greatly benefit from it.

I dare say as well that I'd support the extra work from you guys with a cup or two or three of Java :-) I see you replied to James about a follow-up so I'm looking forward to that and hopefully more videos in the future.

Love the video and the shows. Continued success. Thank you.

Hi Felix,

The video was an experiment and thus pretty light in content. The two minutes of video took almost as long to prep and produce as our 40 minute show. I will be doing more of this in the future and in more detail. Please be patient. Next video tutorial is whole house audio via Airport Expresses.

Hi Ara,

Great video and a very steady hand. Smooth transition and well scripted monologue. However, I am missing the whole setup bit to get to this point. It is great to know that a button will give you whole house Audio, but did it take to do this. Maybe this is the first in a series of how to setup a whole house Audio using Insteon products.

I was going to mention the whole bit about this video being an Insteon advert but I know how hard you and Braden work to bring us these demos and you are working with what you have and what was provided to you. If Insteon was gracious enough to provide you with the equipment (either free or at a discount) and we are the beneficiaries of your documentation of the installation and setup, then good on you and them for stepping outside the box of regular and boring advertisement.

I am an avid consumer of your product and I want to thank you and Braden for all the hard work you put in and I always liked the fact that you are candid and sincere (albeit a bit PC) in your comments and reviews. Thanks.

I have been a listener for about a year now and thoroughly enjoy listening to you two. I really liked the video. Please keep the series going and I'll keep coming back. My personal Amazon link is the one from your site. :-)

Great video. The Mac/ Insteon really is a fantastic platform for whole home automation/control. We at Duprey Home Automation use Insteon heavily, along with Macs, and even airfoil as well. When you factor in Applescript, there is almost nothing you can't do. If you get a chance, check out our site (http://www.DupreyHomeAutomation.com) or our Blog (http://dupreyhomeautomation.wordpress.com). Thanks, I hope to speak with you soon.
