No Nintendo Wii HD Next Year

According to a blog post over at ITProPortal the president of Nintendo America (Reginald "Reggie" Fils-Aimé) told GTTV that there will be no Nintendo Wii HD in 2010. We had reported rumors of the HD upgrade on a recent podcast.

Given all the potential problems with having current Wii games play properly on a higher resolution display. Not to mention that unless games were bundled with higher resolution textures that were conditional to the console you wouldn't get a really huge benefit from the Wii outputting HD resolution.

I get the feeling that the better option for nintendo is just to continue the with the current Wii as it is and start working on the next gen console that would utilize HD resolutions.
